A warm coat can keep a child in school.

In the villages of northern India, winter is more than a season. It’s a daily test. Even India’s capital recently saw its coldest December day in 119 years, as The New York Times reported. In rural Haryana, many children still walk to school in slippers and threadbare shirts.

A child who is cold can’t learn. A family that can’t afford the costs of school may pull its child out to work.

Since 2019, Gold Lotus volunteers have brought warm clothes to children at the Gaddi Kheri village school. We also give small scholarships to rural children who are excelling, so they have a reason and the means to stay in school. So far, we’ve reached 155 children.

Most of every gift goes directly to our programs. You don’t have to do everything. You only have to do something.
